Our final full day of vacation was spent hiking through Yosemite on our own without a tour guide. We left this morning for Hetch Hetchy to see if we could hike to Wapama Falls. Although the morning was overcast and a bit foggy, the hike did not disappoint. To get there was about a 16 mile drive from our lodge. You walk over the O’Shaughnessy Dam, through a tunnel, and from there it’s roughly a 2.5 mile hike to get to the falls. We knew that we wouldn’t be able to walk past the falls as they were closed right at the bridge due to the torrential downpour of water going over the bridge at this time of year. But we knew we’d be close enough to see them, and that was good enough for us. To get there, however, you had to walk through Tueeulala Falls, which was a pretty awesome experience, even if I wasn’t all that graceful crossing it.
On our way back, we stopped at a huge open area on some rocks and had a picnic lunch overlooking the reservoir.
Now that our vacation is ending, we want to thank you for coming with us on this adventure. Now to plan the next big adventure!
